Have You Met Rutgers-Newark?
Climbing up the steps from the Rutgers-Newark arch on University Avenue, visitors encounter the Norman Samuels Plaza, a vibrant landscaped area with tables and paved walkways. It extends west to the Paul Robeson Campus Center and is bordered by Warren and Bleeker streets. The plaza honors Dr. Norman Samuels, who came to the campus in 1967 as an assistant professor of political science and rose to lead both the campus -- as provost for 20 years -- and the entire university, as acting president . Currently he teaches both criminal justice and political science courses.
